DRILL SEEDING

Drill seeding is a mechanical planting method that uses a seed drill to open uniform furrows, deposit seeds at precise depths and intervals, and then cover them—yielding much better seed‑to‑soil contact and consistent germination compared to broadcasting. By placing seeds in rows at the optimal depth, drill seeding minimizes exposure to birds, wind, and sun, reduces seed wastage, and increases crop establishment—sometimes boosting yields up to eightfold. It also supports conservation agriculture: promoting water retention, preventing soil erosion, preserving organic matter, and lowering fuel and chemical inputs. While initial equipment costs and calibration requirements are higher, the long-term benefits—especially for large‑scale or reclamation projects—include efficient large‑area coverage, enhanced biodiversity, and improved land‑management sustainability.
